Can pornography solve sexual harassment and abuse from conservative countries like UAE?

Would unbanning pornography in UAE show any progress when it comes to reducing sexual harassment? Many people believe that it is indeed possible. While it might seem extreme solving harassment with pornography, it might be the very change this country needs.

General Use of Pornography

Pornography has been around since the dawn of time. People used to make nude statues, paintings, and with the invention of cameras, porn movies were one of the first things people did. And there are so many benefits from pornography. Each orgasm will act as stress relief, and pornography use is known to make people feel better. That’s why it exists.

It is also an excellent way to enjoy your fantasies and have a form of visual stimulation while playing with yourself. While many people believe that porn is something only single people watch, that is not the case. In fact, many people watch porn to get new ideas while looking for ways to spice things up in the bedroom. Moreover, some couples enjoy watching pornography together, and it can be so much fun if you are into this type of thing.

How Frequent Is Sexual Abuse in UAE?

When it comes to the UAE or the United Arab Emirates, there are a couple of problems. So, let’s start from the beginning. Sexual abuse is not legal in UAE. There is no doubt about it. But where the problem lies is that it seems that no one cares about what the law says. As a result, problems tend to happen in this country, and they happen quite often.

Women coming to UAE often get assaulted or even raped, and there have been cases where it was just the start of problems for them. Being raped in UAE also includes sex outside marriage, which is also illegal in the country. As a result, many women have been charged with illicit sex. It just shows how backward the entire country is, and it’s not rare for the perpetrator to get away with it as well.

Why Is Pornography Banned in UAE?

It seems that the government of the UAE is willing to address everything but the problem itself, and so, pornography is also banned in the country. That includes all types of nudity. One is not allowed to own pornography, view it, visit porn websites, read Playboy, or consume anything else that can be seen as pornography.

Consequently, the majority of pornographic websites are banned in the country, and you wouldn’t be able to access them. If you plan on using a VPN, it will only complicate things further, helping you break even more laws. Watching pornography in UAE can result in a fine of around $300,000 — and up to six months in prison. And all of this is in theory, though. In reality, there haven’t been many cases of people being fined or imprisoned for watching porn.

The safest way to avoid any types of problems in this country is to avoid visiting it. But if you are forced to be here, pornography is something you should avoid as much as possible.

Do They Have Access to Online Sex Shops?

Now that we’ve covered the part about pornography, someone might want to know more about policies about sex toys. And the answer is quite simple — having a sex toy in UAE is not allowed. If you get caught owning a sex toy, you will need to pay a fine or even go to prison. And the same thing applies to ordering them online.

If you order a sex toy online while you are in the United Arab Emirates, there is a high chance you’ll end up being in serious trouble. There aren’t any legal sex shops in the entire country. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t find them. But the places that sell them are illegal, and you will be at risk of getting caught if you try to find a sex toy out there.

Since the majority of websites are banned, the same thing applies to sex shops. And even if you find a place that will deliver, the chances of you getting that toy are quite slim, thanks to customs.

How Does UAE Condone Sexual Harassment and Abuse?

The United Arab Emirates is a strange country. And the laws are not in your favor. As we mentioned before, sexual harassment and unwelcome sexual advances are illegal. But in reality, there is a high chance that nothing will happen to perpetrators. They will be able to walk free, and the person that gets attacked will have to worry about punishment, fines, or imprisonment. And these aren’t isolated cases.

A couple of years back, an eighteen-year-old woman was sent to prison after being gang-raped because these silly countries don’t care about human rights and doing what’s right. As a result, the majority of women in the Emirates wouldn’t report sexual harassment if they experienced it. And the worst thing is that people there believe that if a woman agrees to talk to a man or drive with them, they agree to sex as well.

This backward thinking only worsens the entire situation for women there. So, they think it is a lot better to not report the crime than to go through imprisonment and flogging. Yes, you read that right. Flogging is a form of punishment because all the fancy buildings in the UAE won’t hide the fact that the country is still lagging in the women’s rights area.

Would Unbanning Pornography and Sex Toys Help?

So, the main question here is whether pornography and sex toys would be able to change things? And the answer is yes. Taking one step closer to the twenty-first century is a sign of progress. Even though it might seem insignificant, there is a high chance that the number of sexual assaults would drop if the moratorium ended.

Watching pornography is great, and having a quick wank every once in a while will allow people to be less frustrated and aggressive. Now, the main solution to the problem would probably be a bit more extreme, but it would be a huge step forward if victims would be able to feel safe and not have to think about punishment for being a victim.
